This year, both pre-ordered and in-stock, the iPhone 12 series has given Apple a long-overdue hot streak.

Today (October 23), the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro officially shipped. Although there was a chilly autumn breeze in the morning, it didn’t affect the iPhone 12 fans who came to buy the iPhone 12 series in any way. This morning before 9 a.m., the “Daily Economic News” reporter arrived at the Apple store in Shenzhen’s Yitian Holiday Plaza, where more than a dozen people were already lining up.

According to the Apple store staff, only consumers who make an appointment to buy the machine in advance can enter the store early (8:00) to pick up the new machine, other no appointment to the because there is no stock, can not buy today, and experience new users need to wait until 10:00 official business to enter the store.

The Daily Economic News reporter saw a number of “scalps” trading at the scene, who said, “The iPhone 12 Pro is currently raising its price by 1,000 to 1,500 yuan, while the iPhone 12 is raising its price lower, about 200 yuan, and the price will change once in half an hour or an hour.

New iPhones in stock need a markup of 200 to more than $1,000.
As of 18:00 on October 16, 850,000 units of the iPhone 12 were reserved for a single model, up 47% from last year’s iPhone 11 (580,000).

The Daily Economic News reporter noted that most of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models ordered from Apple’s website currently have a delivery time of 2 to 3 weeks, and are expected to be shipped in mid to early November. However, in the store, an Apple clerk said the iPhone 12 is in stock and can be purchased directly and without price increases.

Although Wang Jie (a pseudonym) did not reserve the iPhone 12 Pro, but in order to be the first to use the new phone, he has been in the scalper to increase the price of purchase.

One of the scalper hoarded more goods and even used a small suitcase to hold the phone, but as he watched more and more consumers coming out of the direct store with the new iPhone 12, he started to get a little worried and whispered to his peers: “This year it looks like there are quite a lot of goods, I don’t know if the price will come down in a while.”

Then, the reporter also contacted a mobile phone seller Xiao Liu (a pseudonym) in Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen, who told reporters: “Last night the iPhone 12 has no stock, a day a price, last night’s price increase is 200 yuan; pro pre-sale now no stock, to pre-sale.”

After saying that he gave the reporter a quote sheet, and at the same time prompted: “The price list is not allowed, the price is changing at any time, the specific price out after more refunds and less compensation.”

Huaqiangbei seller to the reporter’s offer.

While Apple’s 5G phone is more than a year behind rivals Samsung and Huawei, analysts believe it could help make 5G networks more mainstream. “5G phones will trigger a massive upgrade cycle,”

For his part, CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood said: “The introduction of 5G technology to the iPhone range gives people a tangible reason to upgrade, making this purchase a future-proof purchase.”

Innovation ignites consumer enthusiasm
Typically, consumers have a replacement cycle of 3 to 4 years. Although Apple has a long history of loyal fans, in this year’s unique economic environment, without particularly important innovations, consumer enthusiasm may be more difficult to ignite than in previous years. At the press conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook was clearly very pleased with the iPhone 12 series, he said: “Every decade, there’s a new generation of technology that brings significant changes to our iPhones. Now the next generation is here.”

In terms of configuration, the iPhone 12 series all feature OLED screens and a new design for the hardware – flattened edges, the first such change to the phone’s design since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017. But their biggest highlight is the next-generation A14 Bionic chip, which is the first in the smartphone industry to use a 5-nanometer process.

Apple claims that the A14 Bionic chip is both faster and more energy efficient, with the fastest central processor and graphics processor to date, up to 50 percent faster than the fastest smartphones from competitors. In addition, the new iPhones also have a stronger camera feature.

The iPhone 12 is the most popular of the four new models this year, and is the preferred choice of most consumers. Appearance-wise, the iPhone 12 is somewhat smaller than the iPhone 11, with an 11% reduction in thickness, 15% reduction in length, and 16% lighter weight, and these changes make it more compact and portable.

The iPhone 12 Pro has been upgraded to 6.1 inches from the previous 5.8 inches, but the overall width of the phone has not changed, so the product still maintains a good grip, however, the reporter hands-on experience feels slightly chrome hand at right angles.

As for the camera, the iPhone 12 comes with a dual-lens rear camera system that includes an ultra-wide-angle and a wide-angle. The wide angle camera aperture is for f/1.6, with a 27% increase in light intake, so it’s better to take photos in low-light mode. The new iPhone 12 also has computational photography capabilities to bring improvements to night mode shooting. iPhone 12 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a triple-camera + LIDAR, which makes focusing in low-light environments six times faster and includes a portrait night mode.

The new color of the iPhone 12 is blue, but some users have called it “plastic blue” after seeing the unboxing of the iPhone 12.

In addition, Apple announced that the new iPhone box no longer comes with a “white headset” and charger. It’s not just the new iPhone, it’s also the iPhone 11, XR and SE that will be getting rid of the EarPods and charger, which makes the new iPhone box significantly smaller.
