Two-time winner of the Golden Award Hong Kong star Liao Qiqi died of stomach cancer

Two times won the Golden Film Awards supporting actor, known as “Uncle Chi” veteran Hong Kong actor Liao Qi Zhi, 28 night in Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin due to stomach cancer at the age of 66.

The obituary was issued on the evening of 28th by Liao Kai-chi’s management company, Honest Entertainment, saying that Uncle Chi passed away at Prince of Wales Hospital at 8:32 pm, accompanied by his Family, at the age of 66. The family expressed their gratitude to the medical staff for their careful care over the past few months, as well as the general public and the media for their concern and blessings.

Liao Kai-chi started his career in the TVB art training class and married his wife, Chan Man-yee, in 1987. They had three sons, and their youngest son died of blood cancer when he was 5 years old, and Chan Man Yee suffered from depression due to heartbreak.

In his early years, he played supporting roles in several popular TVB series, including “Shanghai Tang” (as Ding Li’s assistant Chen Xianggui), “Pao Qing Tian” (as Gong Sun Ce) and “Legend of the Shooting Hero” (as Zhou Botong). Later notable works include “Infernal Affairs II”, “Doubleless”, “City in Danger”, “Point Five”, “The Hurt Locker” and “Ten Years”. In 2015, he played the role of “Sam”, a local egg seller, in the film “Ten Years of Local Eggs”, and said to his son Ming Chai, who was involved in the “Youth Army”, “Chien Kai is not used to it. It’s just that we’ve been used to it for generations (because we’ve been used to it for generations), and you have to do it first (you have to face the current situation today).” It’s impressive to this day.

In his more than 40 years of acting career, Liao has won two Golden Award for supporting actor for “The Caged Man” and “Witness”, and is known as a “golden leaf”.

After being diagnosed with stomach cancer last year, Liao was admitted to hospital and stopped working altogether. After being admitted to the hospital, his condition once turned serious, but with the care of his wife, Chan Man Yee, he survived with his will power. After the situation improved, he admitted in an interview that his health is not good, “old, the machine is broken”, but said he is actively fighting the disease, confident of recovery.

After hearing the sad news, artists who have worked with Liao Qi Zhi have left messages on social networks to pay tribute.

The movie “Infernal Affairs II” partner Yu Wenle: “I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with Uncle Zhi, Uncle Zhi is a very modest, very friendly, very willing to teach the elders, the film industry is missing a very good actor worthy of respect, the heart hurts ……”

With Uncle Chi belonged to the “Chow Yun Fat Hill group” of Jiang Meiyi, uploaded the old photo of the two of them with Michelle Hill and left a message: “Uncle Chi, the fate of knowing you is my honor, I regret that I have not had the opportunity to work with you, I will always remember you run very fast, but day after day (every Time) are back to turn their heads and buried (waiting) us (we)! I will always remember you as a fast runner, but all day long (every time) turn around and wait (wait) for us (us)!”
