The newest and most recent edition of the book, “The New York Times”, will be released on April 7, 2012. However, in the past, the mayoral election in Seoul, which tends to support the progressive faction, has been poorly governed by the ruling party due to the Epidemic and soaring housing prices, but the conservative National Power candidate Oh Se-hun has prevailed.
According to a survey conducted by Gallup Korea, a public opinion pollster, among 1,001 voters across the country from 23 to 25, 57% believe that the opposition party must win a majority in the by-election to check the ruling party, and the voice of “check the government” is the highest since July last year. The proportion of those who want the ruling party’s candidate to be elected is only 33%.
The percentage of respondents who have a positive view of Moon’s performance dropped 3 percentage points from last week to 34%, while the percentage of those who have a negative view increased by 4 percentage points to 59%, indicating that voters who originally held a neutral view are beginning to see a turn for the worse.
In terms of regions, the two regions with the lowest support rates are Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do (24%) and Seoul (26%) respectively.
The reasons for the negative ratings are “real estate policy” (34%), “insufficient solutions for the economy and people’s livelihood” (8%), and “unfairness and double standards” (6%). It is clear that Moon Jae-in’s housing policy has failed, and the sharp rise in housing prices has caused public discontent and impacted people’s support for the government.
The ruling party, the Common Democratic Party, also fell 3 percentage points from last week to 32%; the largest opposition party, the National Force, rose 3% to 29%, coming to the highest point after Park Geun-hye’s impeachment.
