Israel’s secret military base leaked! Just because of a map…

A mistake by the IDF’s Rear Command (Home Front Command) has revealed the location of secret army bases, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on 23.

An Israeli military unit recently posted a map on its website with the exact locations of most of the country’s bases, including the location of secret IDF bases.

Following an inquiry from Haaretz, the IDF Rear Command removed the classified information from the map.

The map was posted on the National Emergency Portal as part of the command’s involvement in the national effort to deal with the coronavirus (C.C.V.) pandemic. The map not only showed COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus) detection centers in residential areas across the country, but also IDF facilities, including IAF and military intelligence bases, before the information was removed.

Due to the level of detail on the map, it is possible to determine not only the names and locations of these military bases, but also their exact extent.

The IDF does not normally allow such information to be released, fearing that it could be used for intelligence gathering or to target its bases during war.

An IDF spokesman confirmed to Haaretz that the information was posted in error and has been removed from the website. In a statement, it added that the map came from “a civilian website that provides a global public service to make maps accessible around the world and in Israel. The labeling of IDF camps and bases was not done by the military, but was copied from an existing map on the website.”
