U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo speaks at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Jan. 12, 2021.
On Wednesday (24) from 11:00-11:45 EST, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will speak at the conservative Texas think tank on “China on the Move & the Breakdown at the Border. Border” at a conservative think tank in Texas. New Tang Dynasty and Epoch Times will co-broadcast the event (with simultaneous Chinese translation).
The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), an Austin-based conservative think tank, held a dialogue on Wednesday, inviting Pompeo to speak on the Chinese Communist threat to U.S. territory and the growing immigration crisis at the border.
Both issues, each with its own urgency and set of challenges, seem unwilling or unable to be addressed by the Biden administration, a TPPF press release said. Pompeo will spell out the consequences of inaction and the path to protecting the country.
The seminar will be moderated by Dr. Kevin Roberts, Executive Director of TPPF; and guests will be Mr. Mike Pompeo, Distinguished Fellow at the Hudson Institute and the 70th Secretary of State of the United States.
China’s Communist Tactics Call for Biden to Get Tough
Pompeo is considered a hardliner in U.S. politics against the Chinese Communist Party. He warned the Biden Administration ahead of the just-passed U.S.-China talks to be wary of the Chinese Communist Party’s ill-intentioned use of delaying tactics to gain an advantage.
“What the (Biden) administration needs to do is get tough, make China (CCP) pay a real price when it misbehaves, and make sure that U.S. freedom and security are at the forefront of every element of its policy toward China.”
Pompeo expressed concern that the Biden administration “may talk tough in public, but ultimately will try to reach an agreement with the Chinese side on the CCP’s terms rather than on behalf of American interests.” He said “strength is what deters the bad guys, weakness only invites war,” and gave a meaningful number, “1,327 days.”
Pompeo also met with Yang Jiechi last June. In his China-heavy speech last July, he referred to that meeting saying that the Chinese side was doing the same old thing: talking a lot but not actually offering to change its behavior. And Yang Jiechi’s promises, like those made by many Chinese officials, were “hollow.
After the meeting between Secretary of State Blinken and Yang Jiechi, Pompeo told Fox that if he had been there, he would have confronted him and held him accountable for the Chinese Communist Party’s Epidemic (New Coronavirus). “I certainly would have been straightforward. (The Chinese side’s claim) that the United States is not a beacon of democracy around the world is pure nonsense, and it’s just crazy for them to attack the United States like that.”
Pompeo said, “He’s going to point out what the Chinese Communist Party has done to the world, they’ve harmed the world through viruses that have taken millions of lives and caused billions of dollars in economic damage. And it’s unacceptable that the U.S. representatives are not pushing back against the Chinese Communist Party on this point.”
Immigration crisis at the U.S. border
Previously, Pompeo and many Republicans have said there is already a crisis at the U.S. border and urged Biden to hurry up and change his policy.
Pompeo told Fox News on March 10, “This is a real crisis that’s happening at our southern border. It’s a crisis of sovereignty, a crisis of American sovereignty, a crisis of making sure we know who’s coming in and out of the United States, a crisis of keeping us safe.”
According to former Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Captain Jaeson Jones, the Border Patrol apprehended more than 100,000 (101,535) illegal border crossers at the southern border, despite a week of freezing cold weather in February. Another 26,000 evaded apprehension.
The number of unaccompanied illegal children at the border has tripled in the past two weeks to more than 3,250, forcing the Biden administration to use adult detention centers to house them.
Pompeo credited former President Trump‘s border policy with stopping illegal immigration. At the Time, efforts to create a “stay in Mexico” policy created the right incentives. Now, the Biden administration is incentivizing underage immigrants to come to the border, resulting in these children being targeted for trafficking.
“This administration has abandoned all the good work that we’ve done,” he said. He said.
