The European Union sanctioned Chinese officials for human rights violations in Xinjiang and China was outraged and counter-sanctioned. 23rd, France, Germany, Denmark and Belgium summoned the Chinese ambassador. Beijing imposed a travel ban on 10 members of the European Parliament and European Union countries on the 22nd in retaliation for EU sanctions against China for cracking down on Uighurs.
