Australia’s east coast last weekend record-breaking rainfall for the most populous province of New South Wales brought the most serious flooding in half a century, the low-lying areas of northwestern Sydney were particularly badly hit, with hundreds of homes affected and thousands of residents evacuated overnight on the 21st, and authorities declared 16 areas of the province into a “natural disaster” state.
CNN reports that many animals have migrated to higher ground to escape the flooding, especially snakes and spiders that have broken into homes and yards in large numbers.
New South Wales resident Rowan Forsythe posted photos of his Family‘s farm on Facebook, saying, “The brown you see is all spiders fleeing.”
Not only spiders, but also snakes are taking refuge, Rowan Forsythe said, “The trees are crawling with snakes, and if you paddle to see, you will see snakes desperately trying to swim to a dry place.”
Rowenfuse’s farm is full of spiders.
