Daily increase in cases topped the United States! New Jersey Governor: Fears Suspension of Reopening Plan

New Jersey last week raised restaurant capacity to 50 percent from 35 percent a month ago, pictured inside a Greek restaurant in the state in February this year.

New Jersey Governor Murphy told CNN on the 22nd that the state may suspend its reopening plan due to a renewed rise in the number of cases.

When asked if the reopening plan would be “delayed” for a week or two, Murphy said, “I think you’ll see us do that in the future. I guess we won’t be opening more capacity for a while because of the number of cases,” but he thinks the outbreak should improve as the weather warms up and more people in New Jersey get vaccinated. New Jersey has increased the indoor passenger capacity of commercial establishments, such as restaurants, from 35 percent to 50 percent since the 19th.

According to a CNBC analysis of Johns Hopkins University data, New Jersey’s 7-day average of added cases has increased to more than 4,000 per day as of the 21st, an increase of more than 10% from the previous week.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also show that New Jersey is No. 1 in the nation for daily added cases per capita over the past week, higher than any other state.
