Which way do the Chinese eat?

On June 14 last year, the People’s Daily once published an article saying, “The friendship between the people of China and the United States is unstoppable.” At that Time, the People’s Daily pointed out, “The people of China and the United States have a long history of friendly exchanges, and even if some U.S. politicians insist on creating trouble for China-U.S. relations, they cannot change the trend of friendly exchanges between the two peoples.” However, in a different time and space, it turned out that Yang Jiechi, Director of the Foreign Affairs Working Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, “insisted on creating trouble for China-US relations”, and even disregarded diplomatic etiquette and put down a heavy sentence: “The United States is not qualified to speak to China from a high position, and the Chinese do not eat this! ” In Yang Jiechi’s words, the “friendship between the two peoples” that was “unstoppable” was suddenly “stopped” by his words. People’s Daily?

It is also very interesting to talk about Yang Jiechi’s remark that “the United States is not qualified to speak to China from above”. This remark of Director Yang is like an indirect admission that the United States stands on the moral high ground of democracy and human rights; otherwise, how can Yang Jiechi come to the conclusion that he is “condescending”? Regardless of whether there are human rights and democracy in the United States, Director Yang has at least acknowledged the existence of “democracy and human rights” as a “universal value” in principle! I wonder if this is a “ghost pat on the back of the head”?

Yang Jiechi said, “The Chinese do not eat this!” So, what exactly do the Chinese eat? Chinese netizens, who like to “talk about things” and “discuss the central government”, have a lot of interesting comments. One netizen said, “China doesn’t eat the U.S. set, only the Maoist Cultural Revolution set.” Another netizen said, “China doesn’t eat the U.S., but only the three years of famine that killed 30 million people.” Some people also said, “China does not eat the U.S., but only eats the set of the Cliffside Gap. (Note 1)” Some female netizens also pointed out, “China doesn’t eat the U.S. way, but only the Family planning study class way.” Those from rural areas or ethnic minorities said, “China doesn’t eat the American way, but only the urban-rural apartheid way!” It should be noted that the above comments are only joking. Most intelligent Chinese people understand that the Chinese Communist regime and the Chinese people are two different things, and it is a fact that the Chinese people have suffered a lot from the Chinese Communist regime!

Note 1: “Jibiangou” is the abbreviation of “Jibiangou Farm” in Gansu Province, where more than 3,000 “rightists” were sent to Jibiangou Farm between 1957 and 1960. The “Jibiangou Farm” is the abbreviation for “Jibiangou Farm” in Gansu Province. Later on, there were “Jibiangou Chronicles” and related movies recording the tragic situation of the people involved, all of which became banned books and movies on the mainland.
