The International Surfing Association expressed its condolences to Diaz in a Facebook post.
The Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to begin on July 23, 2021, and athletes from all over the world are intensifying their training. Katherine Diaz, a 22-year-old surfer from the Central American country of El Salvador, was reportedly killed by lightning while training.
According to Western media reports, Katherine Diaz, who died in the accident, was the top click surfer in El Salvador at the age of 22. She was training for the East Olympic Qualifier and ISA International Surfing Competition when she was struck by lightning on March 19 while practicing in the ocean near her Home town of El Tunco.
Although first responders immediately gave her first aid at the beach, she was still unable to return to Life.
It is reported that the sky, which was originally quite clear, suddenly changed suddenly, so that the people on the beach were quite surprised. However, it seems that there was not a lot of lightning when the storm came out of nowhere, but Diaz was struck and killed by lightning, which surprised the outside world.
The Salvadoran Surfing Association issued a statement on social media platforms confirming the accident and describing Diaz as a “great warrior” (great warrior), and the nation mourned her passing (mourning).
The International Surfing Association also posted on Facebook to express its condolences to Diaz.
Diaz was reportedly a surfer as well as a chef and had a personal restaurant.
