Xi Jinping’s daughter’s information leak case Niu Tengyu’s defense lawyer reveals recent developments

Twenty-four young people have been sentenced to prison for leaking information about Xi Jinping‘s daughter that was linked to the “Vulgar Wiki” website. Some of the young people filed appeals, and the second trial of the case is imminent. The defense attorney of Niu Tengyu, who was designated by the police as the “main culprit” of the “Vulgar Wiki” website, disclosed recently that the court of second instance has repeatedly urged the lawyer to submit his defense opinion, but refused to provide the entire file. The court refused to provide the entire file.

Radio Free Asia recently quoted Bao Longjun as saying that the court of second instance in the case, the Maoming Central Court, had repeatedly urged the lawyers to submit their defense arguments, but the court had only provided them with more than 40 of the 70 files in the case.

The court of first instance handed over the files to the court of second instance in the directory, clearly written, the reconnaissance volume is 70 volumes, the court volume is 4 volumes, the total volume is 74 volumes, another 69 CDs, mobile CDs are 4, it must have handed over so many. According to the law, after the appeal, the court of first instance will transfer all the volumes to the court of second instance, if not transferred so much, the court of second instance will not agree.”

Bao Longjun said that if the court of second instance continues to ask lawyers to issue defense opinions when it cannot provide all the files, and may quietly conduct a closed hearing, it is suspected of breaking the law.

The radio station contacted Chen Ye, an assistant judge to second-instance judge Zhang Shuming, who acknowledged that Zhang personally urged lawyers to submit defense opinions, but declined to say when the trial would begin and whether it would be held in public.

When the reporter raised the issue of incomplete files, Chen Ye said the court of first instance had only provided so many files.

In addition, the lawyer repeatedly asked to meet with the judge of the second trial, Zhang Shuming, but the other party refused to see him for various reasons. Zhang Shuming himself had participated in the first trial verdict and suggested that the judge of the first trial impose a heavy sentence on Niu Tengyu and the others.

Previously, Niu Tengyu’s mother also said that Zhang Shuming had recently called the children’s lawyers, saying bluntly that their appeal would be dismissed in writing at the end of this month, without a trial, and threatening the lawyers to submit a defense statement.

The court is also waiting for the situation, said Niu Teng Yu’s mother, before New Year’s had intended to be dismissed in writing, look at the outside world has caused a lot of concern, and dare not, recently feel the attention has decreased, it is again intended to be dismissed in writing. “It’s like a tug of war, it’s a battle between good and evil.”

The case was sparked by the disclosure of the personal information of Xi Jinping’s daughter Xi Mingze and brother-in-law Deng Jiagui by the overseas Red Bank Foundation and the website Chinawiki. The public security officials in Maoming, Guangdong Province, were accused of being powerless to deal with the overseas exposers, so they arrested and sentenced the people involved with the mainland website “Vulgar Wiki”, which shared the links to the two websites, as “scapegoats”.

As the incident festered, the local police tortured and forced confessions, pressured lawyers, threatened Parents who cried foul, fabricated false confessions, and submitted shady reports, i.e., the initial report submitted by the Maoming police to the Guangdong Public Security Bureau showed Gu Yang Yang, the website’s webmaster, as the main culprit, but later in the report submitted to the Ministry of Public Security, the main culprit became Niu Teng Yu.

Radio Free Asia reports that the case has now attracted the attention of the international media and the embassies of the United States and Germany in China.
