The Communist Party of China (CPC) has been fighting with wolves during the U.S.-China talks, and Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the mouthpiece “Global Sources”, has bragged about it from the sidelines, only to be smacked in the face by mainland netizens.
At the U.S.-China high-level talks, Chinese representative Yang Jiechi’s war-wolf style speech sparked an international public outcry. On the other hand, the official media of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been building a full-scale campaign in China, and Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the mouthpiece media “Globe”, has also come out with harsh words, saying that the United States “just needs to be scolded”. However, many netizens left comments disliking him for his “creative lies” and for his “licking even when fighting.
On March 19, Hu Xijin posted a long article on his personal Weibo account, saying, “Old Hu thinks that this fight in Alaska today is a very good fight.”
He claimed that the Chinese delegation was “helping the Chinese public to get out of a bad mood that has been building up for years. Because the U.S. has been “domineering and arrogant” for several years, “they just deserve to be scolded. Yang Jiechi said “Chinese people don’t eat this”, speaking from the heart of the Chinese public.
A netizen countered by saying, “Quarrel Hu Xijin have to lick, far away to quarrel, seems to have no temperament, better not to go. Come back and remember to quarantine 14 days.”
Others complained that they were “represented again” and “but don’t represent the public, just represent the government.” “The Chinese public’s anger comes mainly from corrupt officials, not the United States.”
Hu went on to advocate that Yang and Wang are “setting things right,” giving U.S. politicians “a refresher on who China [the Communist Party] is” and “how hard the diplomatic backbone is.” “They need to show some respect”. He also claimed to do so to show U.S. allies how the CCP deals with the U.S. “We can touch the tiger’s butt in the U.S., and those forces that bite China (CCP) as lapdogs, please behave yourself.”
However, many netizens seemed immune to Hu’s stirring up of nationalist sentiment.
“It’s just a performance in front of the media and has no substantial meaning to the country,” they commented. “Actors perform for the people of the powerful country to see and talk behind closed doors you know. Or else miles and miles to run, even the meal does not care.” “Someone on Zhihu commented: (This is) beating the master to the dog.” “Using diplomacy as propaganda will cause China to lose international support.”
In addition, in a sprawling 800-plus words, Hu Xijin said nothing about what the U.S. side said or what the scene was really like at the Time.
Someone pointed out, “All the news didn’t say what the U.S. actually said ~” “Quarrel content, please reveal.”
“Laohu ah, have the guts to put out the original version of the full process of speaking to the general public? Every time out of context, losing can also blow win, what a shame.”
“Two people quarrel, one side only put out the video of themselves cursing the other side, come back to their own disciples and grandchildren bragging, do not dare to put out the video and language of others cursing themselves.”
“You, as a taxpayer-funded propagandist, please try not to creatively panic and try to tell everyone the real story. The agreed two-minute opening presentation was observed by the U.S. empire, while the Z (Chinese) side violated protocol conventions and spoke for 22 minutes, with many media present to testify. The U.S. side emphasized that the Z (Chinese) side was entirely for show, for the people at Home.”
Others said that on March 19, the day the U.S. and China met, the A-share market suffered a “Black Friday” with the three major stock indexes falling sharply. The Chinese Communist Party is “mouth high, the stock market directly collapsed.” “I heard that today we took the A-shares and slapped the U.S. Empire hard.”
Others said, “The U.S. is essentially pushing China into a modern civilized society, and many people are still dreaming, eh.” “Let’s allow us to replace our soon to expire passports for travel first, passports for new are not even allowed.”
