In Jiuyuanli, Gaoping Township, Qufu County, Yanzhou, Shandong Province, there was a wise man named Lan Gong. His Family consisted of more than a hundred people. He was so moved by his filial piety that a real man from the Douzhong came to his house and called himself the “King of Filial Piety”. He said, “Those who live in the sun are called immortal kings, those who live in the moon are called bright kings, and those who live in the douzhong are called kings of filial piety and brotherhood. When filial piety moves the heavens, the sun and the moon shine brightly; when filial piety moves the earth, everything grows. When filial piety flourishes among the people, the world can be greatly ruled and the king’s way can be implemented. Moreover, the ‘three talents’ of heaven, earth and man are divided according to the ‘three qi’ of xuan qi, yuan qi and beginning qi, and the three qi are the ‘three days of jade clarity’, namely, the clear Wei Heaven, Yu Yu Heaven and Da Chi Heaven. Jade Clear realm, is the immortal realm governed by the Yuan Shi Tai Sheng true king, while the ‘three days of Tai Qing’, the emptiness of nature, Xuan Dao popular, governed by the Jade Emperor. I descended to earth from the Supreme Clear Immortal Realm to spread the way of filial piety and brotherhood. In the Jin Dynasty, there was an attained true immortal Xu Xun who became the head of all immortals because he preached my way of filial piety and fraternal duty.”
So, Dou Zhong Zhen Zhen taught the secrets of monasticism to Lan Gong, who was able to understand the heavenly mechanism, to know past events and to foresee future fortune.
Once Lord Lan went to the wilderness with his friends and suddenly saw three ancient graves, and Lord Lan said, “These are the graves of the three immortals who reached their corpse dissolution and became immortal.
The official came and asked Lord Lan what to use to verify that what you said was true. Mr. Lan said, “In the first grave, the bones of a real person were buried, and now the real person has become an earth immortal and has been able to live forever. In the second tomb, there are two pieces of immortal clothes, a Taoist scripture, and a man buried. He was sleeping like a drunk. If you dig this man out, after a while, you can talk to him, he is refining his form with Taiyin and nourishing his true energy. In the third tomb there is the Jade Elixir, if a mortal drinks it, he can ascend to heaven and become immortal at that Time.”
So the officials opened the three graves in front of the public, and the situation inside the graves was exactly the same as what the public said. He came to the graves, undid his immortal clothes and put them on, took the jade elixir from the graves and took it, greeted the real person lying in the graves, and together they shrugged and ascended into the clouds.
When the official saw this, he was very remorseful and knelt down and bowed to Lord Lan and asked him when he would return. Lord Lan said, “I will come back every ten days, and after a few years, once in a hundred days, to propagate the way of filial piety, to instruct the monks, to help the needy, and to promote Taoism.”
Since then, the fifteen-year-old boy from Wudu and the three-year-old wise child from Danyang have often become incarnations of Lord Lan. The secret teachings of filial piety, a scroll of precious scriptures, a box of golden pills, bronze talismans and iron coupons that he taught were eventually obtained by the ambassador of Gao Ming, Xu Zhenjun (Xu Xun).
