Pompeo warns as U.S.-China talks: U.S. should get tough on Communist China

As the Biden administration and the Chinese Communist Party held two days of talks in Alaska March 18-19, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned on Newsmax television that “the Chinese Communist Party is up to no good and the United States needs to get tough.”

“The reality is that their [the Chinese Communist Party’s] words don’t mean much,” Pompeo told Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield on Thursday. “They’re going to try to delay and extract themselves (from the U.S.).”

He argued that “all the (U.S.) administration needs to do is get tough, have to demand that China pay when they misbehave, and make sure that U.S. freedom and security are at the forefront of all policy elements with China.”

Pompeo spoke of how the new secretary of state, Antony Blinken, may talk tough and express concern publicly, but ultimately will accommodate the terms of the Communist Party rather than represent the interests of the American people. “Make no mistake: the Chinese Communist Party believes that the United States is in decline and they are on the rise, and they intend to take full advantage of that,” he said.

“You call them an enemy, you call them an adversary, you call them whatever you want. But they intend to be the dominant force in the world, and they intend to do so quickly,” Pompeo said, adding, “The Communist Party has not withdrawn its fist. If the Biden Administration drops its guard, the Chinese Communist Party achieves its goal of becoming a world leader.”

He added, “The CCP wants the ability to exert its political influence and military clout anywhere in the world so they can shape the direction of the globe to their benefit. When I say they, I mean their party, the Communist Party, not the Chinese people.”

Pompeo is concerned that under the Biden administration’s weak policies, the United States will succumb to the Chinese Communist Party. He is concerned that Biden has repeatedly canceled the policies of former President Trump (Trump). “This is especially dangerous when dealing with the Chinese Communist Party,” he said. “Today, the Chinese Communist Party is certainly much more dependent on the United States than we are on them, but that dynamic can turn on a dime. Because that’s the opportunity that President Trump and our team have given America in the work that we’ve done. We’ve protected American workers, American jobs and American intellectual property.”

Referring to the strange fellowship that Communist China and Russia seem to create in their ad hoc cooperation, Pompeo argued that the relationship will ultimately not stand the test of Time. He said, “We will see their cooperation in terms of short-term goals. But I believe that ultimately the Russian-Chinese partnership will break down because their interests are so different from each other.”
