The Chinese Embassy in Berlin, Germany, was attacked with a firebomb last week, and the suspect was arrested soon after.
According to a statement issued by the Berlin prosecutor on 16 local Time, the 42-year-old Chinese national suspected of arson attack on the Chinese embassy has been detained since 11, and the motive of the man’s action was to “protest against the Chinese government’s policy towards ethnic minorities”.
So far, prosecutors have not released more details, but China has come under increasing international criticism and attack for its mass persecution of Uighurs in Xinjiang, and foreign media have speculated that the incendiary attack was related to this.
Previously, several foreign media reported that the current anti-China sentiment in Germany has taken shape, and once Chancellor Angela Merkel leaves office, the pro-China Policy is expected to undergo a drastic change.
