Florida officials say a small plane struggling to get back to a south Florida airport crashed into a mother and child in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on a residential street, killing the boy in the car and killing three people and injuring one.
The Associated Press reported that the two people on the plane died in the crash yesterday afternoon, and a neighbor’s security camera recorded the crash. The boy’s mother was able to get out of the vehicle and try to save her son. Firefighters eventually rescued the trapped boy, and the two were later taken to the hospital, where the boy died.

Pembroke Pines, Florida, Fire Chief Marcel Rodriguez told media that the boy’s mother was also injured, but authorities said she was released from the hospital later yesterday.
Florida media reported that the Beechcraft Bonanza plane crashed at about 3 p.m. yesterday, shortly after taking off from Pembroke Pines’ North Perry Airport. Rodriguez said the plane may have suffered a mechanical failure after takeoff.
