Sumire Nakaek, the youngest professional chess player in Japan’s history, won today (15) against 48-year-old Matsubara Osamu Rokudan and was successfully promoted to second dan at the age of 12 years and 0 months, a record in 53 years.
According to NHK, Nakaek Sumire became a professional chess player in April 2019 at the age of 10, and now has won 10 consecutive matches in official tournaments and has reached the 30 wins in matches needed to be promoted to second dan.
According to the Japan Chess Academy, Sumire Nakaeup is now 12 years and 0 months old, younger than the 12 years and 3 months that honorary celebrity Choji Isao was promoted to second dan in 1968, making him the youngest second dan player in 53 years.
Sumire Nakaeup, who is currently in the 6th grade, said that she was very happy to have reached her goal in elementary school after being promoted to the 2nd dan, and she said that she respects Choji Isao very much for breaking his record.
She and her Family have already moved from Osaka to Tokyo, and she is looking forward to becoming stronger and stronger as she plays against chess players while studying.
