Trump doesn’t want to talk publicly about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview on Oprah because he doesn’t want it to be “canceled,” according to Jason Miller, a former senior adviser to Trump.
Jason Miller revealed Trump’s feelings about the couple’s interview during an appearance on Steve Bannon’s podcast last week.
Miller said Trump told him he could talk about his reaction to the interview to “generate a little bit of news” – but he ultimately didn’t think it was a good idea.
He described how, “When I talked to the president this morning, Trump said, “…… Yeah, that’s not good. Now everybody has seen it,” and “But if you’re going to make a negative comment about Meghan, it’s off the table. Just look at Piers (Morgan) and you’ll see.”
Last week host Morgan left his anchor position at Good Morning Britain because he had previously criticized Meghan’s interviews and made controversial comments.
Morgan said he “didn’t really believe” Meghan’s claims that she experienced racism in the royal Family and tried to kill herself while pregnant with her son Archie.
At least three petitions calling for Morgan’s reinstatement were filed after his departure and garnered more than 240,000 signatures.
Morgan ruled out a return to the studio, but wrote on Instagram, “I’m not going back, but would like to thank everyone who signed these petitions. Usually, people sign petitions to get someone fired or deported (they don’t submit petitions to retain people), so this was a pleasant surprise,” “Those who know enough about me know that for all my faults, I’ve always been willing to stand my ground for what I believe is most important. “
“My strong opposition to the war in Iraq led to my departure from the DailyMirror. My outspoken criticism of the “insanity” of U.S. gun laws led to the end of my career at CNN.”
“Now I’ve lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologize because I didn’t believe what Meghan Markle said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.”
“As a result, I have become the latest victim of the ‘Culture of cancellation’ that permeates our country on a daily basis, every hour of every day,” he added.
“But I firmly believe that defending freedom of speech and the right to express honest opinions is the most important issue of my career, and the most important issue in British society.”
Trump has criticized Meghan in the past and called her a nuisance in 2019.
When President Trump heard about Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the royal family in January 2020, he expressed condolences to Queen Elizabeth.
“I think it’s sad …… I think it’s sad.” “The queen is a good person,” Trump told Fox News.
“If you look at it, she never did anything wrong. I mean, she had a perfect Time,” Trump said.
Trump slammed Meghan again last fall for comments she and Harry made about the upcoming U.S. election that many saw as an endorsement of Joe Biden.
At the time, Meghan and Harry broke with royal protocol by commenting on the U.S. election and posting comments that were in line with the Biden camp when they released a video message.
“I’m not a fan of hers,” Trump said of Meghan.
“In response to both of them, I just want to say that I wish Harry a little more good luck because he’s going to need it.”
