Li Keqiang leaked again: China’s unemployed population up to more than 200 million

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang once again revealed the “secrets” of the Communist Party of China when answering questions from Chinese and foreign journalists on Thursday, March 11. He said flexible employment in China now involves more than 200 million people.

At a press conference attended by Li Keqiang on Thursday afternoon, a reporter from the U.S. Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) asked how the quality of employment and income in China had changed significantly one year after the outbreak, and what concrete measures China would take to improve the situation.

Li Keqiang replied that employment can be a matter of great importance to a country and to a Family. This year, China’s employment pressure is still very high, with about 14 million new workers in urban areas, including a record high of 9.09 million college graduates, as well as the need to protect the employment of retired military personnel and to provide working opportunities for 270 to 80 million migrant workers.

Li Keqiang said the target for new urban employment this year is more than 11 million people, and he hopes it can be higher in actual implementation. There are new changes in employment methods in last year’s Epidemic, including the rapid growth of online shopping and express delivery. On the one hand, we should continue to encourage the increase of relatively stable jobs, and at the same Time, open up the channels of flexible employment.

Li Keqiang said flexible employment is emerging in China, which already involves more than 200 million people.

According to Li, there will be 14 million new workers in China’s cities and towns in 2021, while the Communist Party’s target for new employment is 11 million, with a difference of 3 million. Secondly, the so-called flexible employment is a state between employment and unemployment, and the income of these people is not guaranteed.

According to the definition of MBA think-tank encyclopedia, flexibly employed people are those who are employed in flexible forms such as part-time, temporary and flexible work, including unemployed people who have dissolved or terminated their labor relations with employers, resigned from their jobs, self-employed people, retired people approved by labor and personnel departments during the period of file storage, unemployed people who have registered for employment and unemployment. Persons engaged in individual labor, owners of individual economic organizations and their employees.

On May 28, 2020, after the two sessions of the Communist Party of China, Li Keqiang answered questions from Chinese and foreign journalists, saying that China is a developing country with a large population, with an annual per capita income of 30,000 yuan, but 600 million people earn only 1,000 yuan per month, and 1,000 yuan may be difficult to rent an apartment in a medium-sized city.
