Lay the groundwork! Trump issues statement supporting the late congressman’s widow’s candidacy

Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at CPAC on Feb. 28

On March 10, Trump publicly endorsed Julia Letlow, the widow of Congressman-elect Luke Letlow, for Congress in Louisiana. In a statement released by the Save America Political Action Committee (PAC), Trump said, “Julia Letlow is a wonderfully talented person who, at the urging of many people who knew her very well, is running for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District. “

“She is pro-Life, stands strong on crime and borders, loves our military, our veterans, and will always protect our cherished Second Amendment. I fully support her. The great state of Louisiana would be happy to have such a talented person!”

Julia replied that day, “It is truly an honor to have the support of President Trump and I look forward to joining the fight to save our country by putting America first!”

Last year, Luke Letlow won a special election in Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, but soon died at the end of the year from complications of a virus. In January, his wife, Julia Letlow, officially announced her candidacy for the seat.

In a statement, she said, “I am running to continue Luke’s mission – to stand up for our Christian values, fight for our rural farming communities and deliver real results to move our country forward.”

The election will be held March 20.

Several media outlets have previously reported that Trump intends to help Republicans win gubernatorial seats in 2022 in order to prevent electoral “shenanigans” that could occur during and after the 2020 election. The same day Trump’s spokesman and adviser Jason Miller said that Trump is considering replacing Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp in the 2022 midterm elections. Because the Republican governor has made no effort to cooperate and authenticate the legitimacy of the state’s 2020 election.

Trump also believes that defeating the Democratic governors of Michigan, Wisconsin and Nevada, as well as securing a Republican governor for the open seat in Pennsylvania, is critical to preventing electoral problems in 2020.

According to Miller, Trump has quickly amassed $80 million in fundraising in his “Save America” political action committee. President Trump has raised at least $50 million so far this year, nearly matching and surpassing the fundraising of the Republican National Committee, which reported raising $16.2 million in January 2021.
