An article published by Breitbart on Thursday, March 11, summarizes five “far-left promises” that Biden has made in the 50 days since his inauguration. According to the article, Biden has created a far-left government apparatus, while abolishing a key component of former President Trump‘s “America First” agenda.
The following is a translation of the article.
When Biden began his presidency, he bypassed Congress and unilaterally changed many (former administration) policies through executive orders. On his first day as president, Biden has signed a series of executive orders undoing many of Trump’s key policies.
I. Rescinding the Keystone XL U.S.-Canada pipeline
In May 2020, Biden’s campaign issued a statement saying he would oppose the Keystone XL pipeline, which Trump had agreed to, and that he would continue to support Obama’s decision and would be “proud to stand again in Roosevelt Hall as president and bring it to a permanent halt.
On Biden’s first day in office, he revoked the permit for the Keystone Pipeline. And criticism from industry stakeholders, Republican lawmakers and labor unions has been mounting. Some estimate that the move will put as many as 70,000 Americans out of work.
In a statement, Senator Steve Daines said, “On just the first day, with the stroke of a pen, Biden has taken steps to kill U.S. energy projects like the Keystone American-Canadian Pipeline. And that’s critical for energy-producing states like Montana.”
Trump has issued a presidential permit authorizing the pipeline’s construction. And that permit has directly or indirectly created thousands of American jobs.
Mark McManus, co-president of the United Plumbers and Pipefitters union, said the move to end the pipeline is a “slap in the face to the thousands of union workers who have already participated in this safe and sustainable project.
Ending Trump’s control of immigration at the border
Biden promised in March 2020 to end Trump’s “Stay in Mexico” program, which effectively ended the practice of releasing border crossers into the U.S. interior while they await asylum hearings.
In a statement, Biden wrote, “Trump’s ‘Stay in Mexico’ policy is dangerous, inhumane and contrary to our position as a nation of immigrants. My administration will end it.”
As one of his first executive orders, Biden ended the “stay in Mexico” policy and has now released some 25,600 immigrants from the program into the interior of the United States.
III. Return to the World health Organization (WHO)
Biden promised in July 2020 that he would join the World Health Organization (WHO) on his first day in office.
He tweeted, “America is safer when it is connected to the wealth of the world, and on my first day in office, I will join the WHO and return to leadership on the world stage.”
In his first executive order in January, Biden sent a letter to the United Nations announcing that the United States would not leave the WHO despite U.S. concerns about China’s dominance and the WHO’s failure with the New Coronavirus (Chinese Communist virus).
IV. Rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement
Biden said back in November 2020 that he would rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement on his first day in office.
He tweeted last November 4, “Today, the Trump Administration officially left the Paris agreement, and 77 days later, the Biden Administration will rejoin.”
On Biden’s first day in office, the United States returned to the Paris Climate Accord. The White House tweeted a statement, “Today, President Biden returned to the Paris Climate Accord.”
V. Stop deporting most illegal aliens
Biden has continued to promise throughout the 2020 presidential campaign that he would ensure that illegal aliens would not be deported until they are convicted of a felony.
Biden said in March 2020, “The only people who will be deported are those who have committed felonies against the United States of America.”
In the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) memo, Biden has prevented agents from arresting and deporting about 90 percent of illegal aliens who would otherwise be jailed. Specifically, enforcement guidance prohibits agents from deporting illegal aliens unless they are recently convicted felons.
