Out of poverty, the spiritual poor are online in bulk

The people in the video who grabbed the Food, alive and well dressed, were obviously not really needing free food for the needy.

They just wanted to take advantage of it for nothing. Grabbing and grabbing, some food was even thrown to the ground. They are not materially difficult, but mentally difficult.

After forty years of reform and opening up, the current abundance of goods in mainland China is unprecedented in thousands of years. In metropolises like the North, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, as long as one is healthy and willing to work, it is not difficult to have enough to eat. The famous scene in the 1982 movie “The Shepherd”, in which a fugitive girl gives herself up to a stranger for a meal, no longer exists today.

Although class is solidified, it is still on the move, so although there are still many poor people from urban to rural areas, and the rich and poor are divided, a person who works hard and is smart and resourceful has a chance to make the leap. In most rural areas, after the “village access”, as long as one works hard, food and clothing (not well-off) will not be a problem. The fear is that the Family encountered disease, disaster and other unexpected major events, fell into a difficult situation, there is no way to help, which requires a social security system to support the support.

What’s scary is that many people have deep-rooted spiritual poverty and are deeply bound by the “poor mindset”. These people have no concept of opportunity cost or Time cost, and they have no others in their hearts.

They wear thousands of dollars a down jacket, ignore the left-behind children who died of poisoning from heating in garbage trucks, and have no sense.

They are chasing after those con masters in TV commercials, spending tens of thousands of dollars on health products with dubious effects, scoffing at those who warn in good faith, and even satiating them with their old fists.

They have a gym to hammer out the abs, pectoral muscles, biceps, a few dollars of free food is hungry.

They are asking for “free” everything, but never a dime for public affairs, and even like the wolf on the helper back bite.

In the Internet era, we see that the “spiritual poor” are coming online in bulk.

When I reposted the video on Yoyo Luming’s social media account, although I didn’t mention the word “elderly” (the video shows a clearly middle-aged person), I was angrily sprayed by a reader as “mocking the lack of quality of the elderly in mainland China” and concluded that it was “helping to justify KFC’s despicable marketing tactics”.

This kind of “conspiracy theory” that “there are always unruly people who want to harm me” is also a kind of spiritual poverty.

What many people don’t know, because they rarely follow the news, is that “food banks” are not new at all.

For example, when I lived in Shanghai, I used to go to the Metro supermarket (also the headquarters of Metro) on North Zhenbei Road for a short time. The German supermarket introduced the popular “food bank” concept to Shanghai back in 2013, offering free expired food to the nearby Baida Home for the Aged, and then extended the model to four other stores in 2014.

In September 2020, a new 2-meter-tall orange refrigerator was added to the Rumsey Neighborhood Center in Lane 55, Guoshun East Road in Shanghai, a “food bank” donated by Singapore’s DBS Bank, which plans to put 50 of them in Shanghai.

Not only in Shanghai, but also in 2019, Xiamen, Fujian also appeared “love food bank”, the object of receiving mainly sanitation workers, delivery boys and so on. In addition to Metro, Seeford convenience stores, Yuanchu supermarket, Minbasket supermarket, Minxing supermarket, and the city’s salt company also joined.

That is to say, KFC to participate in the “food bank” only to see the virtuous, and why “despicable marketing” “deliberately installed cameras” said? Even if people installed a camera, you do not loot on the line? How can you take the looting for granted?

“For example, in Belgium, 100,000 poor people get free food from “food banks” every year. This charity is not only participated by enterprises, but also many ordinary citizens. When shopping in supermarkets, some customers will buy an extra portion of food and put it in the supermarket’s “food bank tube”, which is then collected and distributed by public welfare organizations.

Therefore, the “food bank” test is at least three aspects of society: first, the love of enterprises, which means the popularity of corporate social responsibility; second, the general participation of the public, which means “we for all” public welfare consensus; third, the development of social organizations The third is the development of social organizations to ensure the reasonable distribution and smooth operation of the project.

For example, is it possible to set a small threshold for the free refrigerator, and install a control device that allows only one collection per day for one ID card? Can we design a more efficient flow system for the date management and distribution of food? It is impossible for every caring company to have the ability and energy to design and develop such equipment and systems.

Naturally, it also tests the public’s ability to recognize a good deed.

Sometimes, spiritual poverty is systemic.

This article should have ended here, but I have long been concerned about “spiritual poverty” and have often mentioned it in my articles. Therefore, I will add some issues related to niche areas.

In September 2018, a paragraph appeared in the Strategic Plan for Rural Revitalization (2018-2022): “Consolidate the results of poverty eradication, focus on helping the will and wisdom, guide the poor people to overcome the ‘wait-and-see’ mentality, and gradually eliminate spiritual poverty. ” This is the first time the term “spiritual poverty” appeared in the policy document.

Unfortunately, in the past two years, I see that the research on “spiritual poverty” on the major official websites and academic journals generally stays at the primary, crude and even vulgar stage. Some so-called professors have not even clearly understood the concept and extension of “spiritual poverty” before publishing their research results on the subject, and have confused it with concepts such as “cultural poverty” and “mental health problems”. Some publish their research results without even understanding the concept and extension of “spiritual poverty,” and use them together with “cultural poverty” and “mental health problems. Others confine “spiritual poverty” to the old, young and poor areas where poverty is extreme, ignoring the spiritual deserts in big cities.

Some people are so high and mighty that they look like monkeys who climb up trees and show their red bottoms.

Some experts, after researching the phenomenon of “spiritual poverty” in a province, have concluded that it is not the spiritual poverty of the peasants at the bottom, but the poverty of the “solvers of spiritual poverty” themselves. They are old-fashioned, lazy and rude, and their discourse is exhausted, as if people from decades ago had traveled to modern times.

Other professors, whose names I will not mention, open their mouths and say “material poverty inevitably leads to spiritual poverty”, completely ignoring the fine tradition in the Analects of Confucius that “a fountain of food and a ladle of drink, in a humble alley, does not change its happiness”. I also ignore how the poor Sima Qian and Cao Xueqin provided rich food for Chinese Culture.

I do not want to offend people, but I cannot help but observe that many of the so-called “senior people” who study “spiritual poverty” are themselves quite poor in spirit, even though they receive large sums of money for their projects and even live in large villas.

The spiritual poor who come online in large numbers are not only a few strong and lazy people in poor rural areas who “wait for their turn”, but also people who look bright and shiny and even extravagant.

What is the spiritual poor? This is the viewpoint of YoYoLuMing, welcome to add: when a person’s heart of advancement is dim and numb and degenerate; when a person’s heart has no fear, rejecting the modern knowledge system and modern civilization; when a person is inordinately demanding and does not know restraint; when a person’s shame and empathy are obscure and ruled by one’s own selfishness both inside and outside; when a person’s “conscience When one’s “conscience” fails to wake up and is hypocritical in everything – he is poor in spirit.

This rejection of civilized poverty will become a subculture of spiritual poverty. Once this culture is formed, it is passed on from generation to generation, in the family, in the clan, and in the community.

It is gratifying to see that the majority of followers are spiritually rich from the seven years of interaction in the backstage of YoYoLuMing, and even if a few people occasionally encounter difficulties in Life, they can hold on and survive. The day arch is a day, our life is a celebration of the auditorium.
