U.S. Media Exclusive: Illegal Immigration Becomes Border Crisis, Biden Administration Restricts Top Homeland Security Officials from Speaking

Randy Clark, a former senior director of the U.S. Border Patrol, revealed in an article in Breitbart News that the Biden administration has restricted top DHS officials from sharing information about the border crisis with reporters.

A senior Department of Homeland Security (DHS) law enforcement source told Breitbart News’ Texas bureau that there are verbal orders from within the agency not to speak freely about the growing illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The official said, “The Biden Administration‘s relationship with the media is a world away from the previous administration. We have been advised not to speak on immigration at the border and to rely on the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Public Affairs and the White House press office to handle the message.” The verbal order applies to senior law enforcement leaders within the Department of Homeland Security and has no official expiration date.

It comes as the Biden administration’s changes in border security and immigration policies have led to a surge in illegal border crossings at the U.S. border, creating a growing crisis. The Breitbart News said the Biden administration, even among its own people, has faced criticism as local communities along the border continue to grapple with the issue of releasing immigrants into their communities.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) said in a recent interview with Fox News Channel, “I can tell you that the number of illegal immigrants that are being released, they’re deliberately withholding that information.”

The congressman, who represents a Laredo, Texas, district, said, “I now know that they are taking illegal immigrants from McAllen, Texas, which is south of the U.S.-Mexico border, to Laredo, which is a little bit north, for processing, and releasing illegal immigrants in my community. I’ve seen this happen before, not letting the local community know what they’re doing and releasing illegals at the bus stop. “

The verbal order, delivered through DHS channels, is intended to prevent senior leaders from leaking information about the immigration situation currently plaguing the administration. On Saturday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Susan Rice, director of Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, visited several Texas cities to see the situation at the border firsthand.

The delegation toured Border Patrol stations and the Department of health‘s unaccompanied children’s detention facility when members of the media were not allowed to be present. According to sources familiar with the media restrictions, the DHS secretary prohibited the media from being present in order to keep photos of the overcrowded child detention centers from getting out.
