Gao Fu, director of the Chinese CDC, was asked by Chinese media Phoenix on March 6, “In January 2021, WHO announced that it would evaluate a number of Chinese vaccines on the emergency use list, but there are no results yet, which seems to be slower than expected, what do you think?”
According to Gao Fu, “The WHO process may be more cautious, and I personally believe that it is understandable that we have to be cautious when giving vaccines to any healthy person. Since it is not the same amount as our pre-designed phase III clinical requirement, we are very cautious in using it urgently, cautious in approving this thing, just because we don’t have enough amount of phase III clinical data, only part of it. I personally think this is very normal. Our manufacturers, the relevant units in communication with WHO, I believe there will be good results.”
