Sixty-five employees at WHO headquarters have contracted neo-coronary pneumonia, with 36 cases linked to the workplace.

On November 16, local time, WHO held a routine briefing on neo-coronary pneumonia, and Maria van Kohov, technical director of WHO’s Health Emergency Programme, said that since the outbreak, 65 employees at WHO headquarters have contracted neo-coronary pneumonia, including 36 cases linked to the workplace. Five linked cases emerged last week, and it is unclear whether they were clustered outbreaks. Some of the cases are members of the same team, but it is also possible that they were contracted outside of the work environment, and the Geneva region, where WHO headquarters is located, currently has a very high incidence of the disease. WHO is monitoring the health status of its workforce globally and is conducting epidemiological investigations.
