Israel expected to open bar, restaurant restrictions next week

The outbreak of Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) is slowing down with the development of a vaccine, and Israel has lifted most of the restrictions on economic activity, moving into the final phase of lifting the blockade, with some restrictions from last September to the present to be lifted.

According to foreign media reports, bars, restaurants, sporting events, hotels and primary and secondary schools are expected to reopen to the public after Sunday, although the number of people will still be limited.

The Israeli government also approved the easing of restrictions on Saturday night, including the reopening of the main international airport to a certain number of travelers.

People who have been vaccinated against Wuhan pneumonia will also be able to conduct most major public events, including eating in restaurants. Israel has accelerated the pace of vaccination, with more than 52 percent of the population having received the first dose of the vaccine and close to 40 percent having received both doses, one of the highest rates of vaccination in the world.

According to Israeli health authorities, at least 799,000 cases have been confirmed in Israel since the outbreak, with 5,856 deaths.
