Activities were held around the world on Sunday to show solidarity with 47 pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong who have been charged with “conspiracy to subvert state power” for their participation in the primary election. In New York, nearly 100 Hong Kong people braved the cold and wind to rally in Times Square, mostly dressed in black and holding up slogans for the release of political prisoners.
The organizers displayed photos of the 47 arrested people in Times Square and arranged for pen and paper for those present to write their hearts out to the 47 people and send letters back to Hong Kong to show their support, said NY4HK representative Yang Jinxia, not only the 47 people, but also the imprisoned hands and feet, 12 Hong Kong youth, etc., all need continued attention. Yang Jinxia said, “The heartfelt message is, I hope they hold on, must be cheerful. Even a glimmer of hope is the hope for the future of Hong Kong. Although we can’t visit the prison in person, I hope they know that people overseas have not forgotten.”
Mr. Wu, who was worried about the Hong Kong version of Belle Isle detainees in prison, wrote “Remember to drink water and be healthy,” and said that 15 of them were originally granted bail, but the Department of Justice immediately filed a review, so that they were immediately returned to scabbard, Mr. Wu felt very angry, thinking that this is very unreasonable.
