Protest against military coup! Police kill former ruling party cadres in police custody in Myanmar

Burmese people are once again taking widespread action today against last month’s military coup, with protests in at least six cities. The government has also announced the death of a former cadre of the ruling party “National League for Democracy” (NLD) in police custody last night.

The government’s decision to use the “NLD” to promote the “NLD” was made by the government. Reuters has seen a photo of his body showing a bloodstained cloth wrapped around his head.

Former MP Sithu Maung said in a Facebook post that Khin Maung Latt, who was his campaign director general, was arrested in Yangon’s Pabedan district yesterday evening.

Police declined to comment.

Tun Kyi, a former member of the Former Political Prisoners Society, told AFP that Khin Maungla, 58, a community leader, was beaten and taken away by police last night and appeared to have undergone a brutal interrogation.

Tun Kyi said, “The body has been taken away from Mingaladon military hospital to be sent to Yay Way cemetery.”

Situ Maung’s Facebook post also mentioned that security forces were searching for Maung Maung, a NLD press officer, last night, but could not find him.

Maung Maung’s brother was beaten and hung upside down by the military police because they had no one to arrest,” Situ Maung said.

On the other hand, security forces cracked down on several protests across Myanmar today.

There was video of police using tear gas and flashbangs on protesters in Yangon and Lashio township in the northern Shan State.

An eyewitness said police opened fire to disperse protesters in Bagan, a town of 10,000 pagodas, and several residents posted on social media that police used live ammunition.

There is no news of any casualties yet.
