China’s Sichuan and Hubei outbreak of African swine fever again

China is expected to return to normal pork supply in the second half of this year despite the impact of African swine fever, which was strongly publicized on the 22nd of last month, but there is another outbreak of African swine fever in Sichuan and Hubei, China.

China’s Ministry of Agriculture issued a press release today (6) stating that there was an outbreak of African swine fever in Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, and Fancheng District, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, respectively.

A farm in Sichuan Province had 127 pigs, 38 of which were sick and 38 of which had died; a vehicle in Hubei Province that was illegally transporting pork was also found to have 10 heads infected with African swine fever.

According to a press release from China’s Ministry of Agriculture and rural Development, they have thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the relevant premises, roads and transport vehicles along the way.
