McInerney on differences with Psaki “Always know where the boss stands”

On March 4, former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who has been hired by Fox, said on the show that when she was former President Trump‘s press secretary, she always knew where her boss stood, according to Fox. Because of the access Trump provided her, she didn’t have to do “a lot of maneuvering,” a common line used by current White House press secretary Puszaky when she couldn’t answer questions directly.

Unlike other press secretaries who may not have Oval Office privileges, I can go to the Oval Office whenever I want,” she said. Before each press briefing, I make a list of items that I think the press will ask about and discuss one by one. I didn’t have to do a lot of recusal because President Trump provided me with a lot of intelligence” and “I always knew where he stood.”

Previously McInerney has cited the double standard of the mainstream media’s treatment of her and Psaki. She said, “At an early press conference, she was asked about the Antifa riots and she said she hadn’t talked to the president about it. Then they asked her to move on to the next question, but if I had been asked the same question about the violence …… answering that way would never have convinced them, and it wouldn’t have been called an answer.” She said some reporters in the briefing room were acting like “political operatives.”

After learning that McInerney had been hired by Fox, Psaki told the media this week, “I’ve been on Fox News twice on Sundays. I know a little bit about Kelly, but not much. I met her when we were both contributors for CNN and we did a couple of shows together. Like many Americans, we disagreed on political issues, but we talked about our families, our spouses, sports, talked about all sorts of things in the lounge, and I certainly wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

Psaki said at the Time that she would be happy to appear on the Unity show with former speaker McInerney for a discussion.

McInerney said that day, “The White House spokesperson is a very difficult job. We put a tremendous amount of effort into the administration, doing hours of research beforehand, sometimes for days, sometimes requiring calls to former health and Human Services Secretary Azar and former Justice Department spokesman Kerri Kupec for answers.”

McInerney also criticized Biden for staying in the “basement” and avoiding questions from reporters. She said that while Biden occasionally answers questions posed to him after his official speeches, he hasn’t held a separate press conference in 44 days.

It’s exactly like the campaign,” she said. Hide in the basement and don’t talk to the American people… That’s been his strategy all along, and President Trump has provided transparency. He’s always willing to take questions, willing to get on the podium, willing to stop on his way to the helicopter. Biden also said he wanted transparency. But he’s now set a 100-year record for not going to the podium.”

On March 5, a White House statement said Biden was preparing to hold his first press conference in late March.
