South Africa seized Chinese fake vaccines Interpol: just the tip of the iceberg

The Chinese Communist Party virus vaccine involves profiteering, and China has long been rampant with counterfeit goods, some posing as physiological saline, some even filled with mineral water. Recently Interpol informed that a batch of fake Chinese vaccines were seized in South Africa, and this is just the tip of the iceberg of vaccine crime.

On March 3, Interpol announced that South African authorities seized about 2,400 doses of suspected fake Chinese communist virus vaccines in a warehouse in Germiston, and found a large number of fake 3M masks, and arrested three Chinese and one Zambian suspects.

The briefing also mentioned that, with the assistance of Interpol, Chinese public security officials also seized a fake vaccine manufacturing factory, arrested about 80 suspects and seized more than 3,000 doses of fake vaccines at the site.

Chinese mainland media reported in February that the 80-member counterfeiting gang had been manufacturing fake Sinopharm vaccines on a large scale since last September. They injected physiological saline into syringes to pass it off as vaccines, then carefully packaged and sold them to many provinces across the country, and increased prices at every step of the sales chain.

Interpol said that in addition to South Africa and China, several other fake vaccine notifications have been received, and the fake vaccines seized now are just the tip of the vaccine crime iceberg.

Fake vaccines are a common occurrence in China. According to a February report by Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese market is flooded with counterfeit Kexing vaccines that look almost authentic and even have anti-counterfeit barcodes. As of Jan. 10, China had uncovered 21 cases of counterfeit vaccines for profit. Some of the suspects injected saline and mineral water into the injections to disguise the vaccines, and some of them were exported outside of China. In just one case uncovered last November, 58,000 doses of fake vaccines were found.
