Biden forced to send team to border as wave of illegal child immigration escalates

The number of illegal immigrant children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border has risen steadily since Biden took office, and the influx of migrants has overwhelmed the original shelters. A White House spokesman said Thursday (March 4) that President Biden has ordered senior members of his team to visit the southern border and brief him on how to handle the recent influx of migrant children.

According to Fox, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, “The president has asked senior members of his team to travel to the border region in order to give him a full briefing on the administration’s response to the influx of unaccompanied minors (into the U.S.) and to assess what additional steps can be taken to ensure the safety and care of these children. “

The date and Time of the visit will remain confidential due to safety, security and privacy concerns, but the White House will provide information on the status of the visit after it is completed,” the spokesman said.”

With another wave of illegal immigrants inching closer to the U.S. border, the Biden Administration has become a focus of attention on how it will treat children in detention.

According to Axios, documents from the U.S. Department of health and Human Services (HHS) show that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will turn over an average of 321 illegal immigrant children to HHS each day, a significant increase in the influx compared to the record at the end of January this year, when an average of 203 children were turned over each week.

Late last month, the White House reopened a Texas facility for illegal immigrant children, raising questions about his 2019 pledge to “not detain illegal immigrant children.

According to the Washington Post, the migrant Family detention center in Texas will be converted into a fast-track processing center to screen illegal immigrant families with the goal of releasing them to the U.S. within 72 hours pending follow-up procedures.

A White House official told Fox News in February that Biden’s approach was “comprehensive, fair and humane in dealing with immigration issues.

It is the policy of this administration not to deport unaccompanied children who arrive at our border,” he said. The Border Patrol will continue to transfer these children to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Refugee Resettlement so that they can be properly cared for in the best interest of the appropriate shelter.”
