The National Archives reports that the Democratic COVID (Communist Party of China Virus) bill would give federal employees $21,000 if their children’s schools are not open to them.

The legislation authorizes a $570 million fund “available until September 30” so that federal employees can take paid leave if they have to care for others due to COVID.
In its current form, the bill would allow full-time federal employees to take up to 600 hours of paid leave by Sept. 30, 2021, at a maximum of $35 per hour or $1,400 per week. For an employee working 40 hours per week, the total amount of paid leave would be 15 weeks.
Part-time and “seasonal” employees are eligible for the same number of hours as determined and calculated by their agency. Currently, federal employees may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), in addition to the legislative requirements.
