Gas prices soar in South Garfield and Orange counties, reaching one-year high

Gas prices rise in L.A., Orange counties.

The average price of regular gasoline in Los Angeles County Self-Serve (SELF-Serve) rose to $3.748 on the 1st, the highest since Dec. 7, 2019.1 It was also the 20th consecutive day of gas price increases. It was also the 40th increase in 41 days.

According to AAA and the Gasoline Price Information Service, the average gasoline price in L.A. County has risen 40 cents in the past 41 days, including a one-day increase of 0.9 cents on Feb. 28. The average gasoline price is 9.8 cents higher than a week ago, 27.6 cents higher than a month ago, and 19.1 cents higher than a year ago.

The average gas price in Orange County was $3.732 on March 1, the 21st day in a row that gas prices increased and the 54th increase in 55 days. Over the past 55 days, gas prices have increased by 50.8 cents. the March 1 price was the highest since Dec. 3, 2019.

Orange County’s current average gasoline price is up 9.4 cents compared to a week ago, 27.8 cents higher than a month ago and 22.6 cents higher than a year ago.

Jeffrey Spring, exchange manager for the Automobile Club of Southern California, said the continued rise in gas prices is related to higher Crude Oil prices and trading activity in the futures market. Texas’ ability to deliver gasoline to other states has been reduced by the blizzard’s severe cold weather, causing some of California’s gasoline to flow to places like Arizona.
