On Sunday (February 28), the final day of the Conservative Coalition for America Conference (CPAC), former President Trump (Trump) gave a speech. He again criticized the World health Organization as a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party and opposed the return of the United States to the WHO. He also expressed his intention to confront the Chinese Communist Party.
On Sunday (February 28), the last day of the American Conservative Union Conference (CPAC), former President Trump (Trump) gave a speech. He again criticized the World Health Organization as a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party and opposed the return of the United States to the WHO. He also expressed his intention to confront the Chinese Communist Party.
It was Trump’s first public speech since leaving the White House and covered several topics, including the COVID-19 pandemic, immigration policy, open schools and embargo rules. Excerpts from the speech also show that Trump believes tougher action should be taken against the Chinese Communist Party.
He also again denounced the monopolies of large technology companies and called for free speech and the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Act.
Criticizing the WHO as a puppet of the Chinese Communist Party
Speaking of the WHO, Trump said, “They really are puppets of China (the Chinese Communist Party).”
“They (WHO) called and they want us (the U.S.) to stay. I said how much do we have to pay? About $500 million. How much is China (the Chinese Communist Party) going to pay? China has a much larger population (than the U.S.).” Trump said.
Why, Trump said, is China paying $39 million when the U.S. is paying nearly $500 million? Why? “So we could have done the same $39 million deal that the Chinese did.”
On Jan. 20, President Joe Biden signed an executive order to halt the process of U.S. withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) and to pay the same $500 million previously paid to WHO.
Some Republican members of Congress expressed dissatisfaction with the U.S. return to WHO. Rep. James Comer (R-Texas), a senior member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued a press release stating that from the beginning of the coronavirus (Chinese Communist Party virus) pandemic, the WHO and Director General Ted Tam have proven that their top priority is to assist the Chinese (Communist Party) government ) government and at the expense of the American people and the rest of the world.
Comer said, “Despite the misinformation spread by China (CCP), which allowed for the hoarding of medical supplies, the World Health Organization (WHO) parroted China’s (CCP) lies and denied the transmission of the virus (CCP virus) from person to person, and Tandese praised their (CCP) transparency.”
Scalise said the United States is paying a high price for China’s (CCP) lies and WHO’s complicity in lying to the world and trying to cover up the origin of the coronavirus (CCP virus) and WHO protecting the CCP from liability. Any organization that refuses to tell the truth and is not accountable to the countries it serves should not receive U.S. taxpayer funds.
Trump: Make sure it’s the U.S., not the CCP, that dictates the world’s future
In his CPAC speech on Sunday, Trump also spoke again about confronting the Chinese Communist Party, bringing factories and supply chains back to the United States, and making sure that the United States, not the Chinese Communist Party, “dictates the future of the world.
Trump said, “During my administration, we got hundreds of millions of dollars from the Chinese side, and that was a one-way street. We got billions of dollars in, and in the negotiations they said we don’t want these tariffs anymore. From those tariffs we got in so much money.”
He also mentioned the first phase of the U.S.-China trade deal, but Trump also said that once COVID broke out, “I stopped caring so much about the trade deal because that thing (COVID-19) was really shameful.”
Trump said, “We believe strongly in confronting the Chinese Communist Party, eliminating (job) outsourcing, restoring our factories and supply chains, and making sure it’s America, not China (Communist Party of China), that dominates the future.”
“Companies that leave the United States to create jobs in China, and other countries that have been extorting us for years, should not be encouraged; they should pay tariffs, fines, and be punished.” He said.
Chinese Communist Party Issues Become Topic of Concern at CPAC
Trump also criticized the Biden Administration for not being tough enough on the Chinese Communist Party, saying, “That’s what the Biden administration has done, that’s what the Biden administration has done. But, of course, as you know, they have a very close personal relationship with the Chinese.”
During the Trump Administration, the Pompeo-led State Department took a tough stance against Beijing, sanctioning it for human rights violations and pushing back against its invasion of privacy and geopolitical manipulation.
In an interview with U.S. media on Saturday (Feb. 27), Pompeo urged the Biden administration to take action to make the Chinese Communist Party pay a “real price.
Pompeo also said that if the U.S. government is not prepared to confront the CCP in these areas, whether diplomatic, economic or military, and if the U.S. is not prepared to compete and confront them, then the CCP will continue to strengthen in these areas and Americans will suffer as a result, as will people around the world.
The topic of the Chinese Communist Party has become a much more focused topic in this year’s CPAC agenda. Not only were panels discussing the dangers posed by the CCP, but the topic was also featured in several of the speakers’ presentations.
This year’s conference lineup included six panels on China (CCP) issues, including “China (CCP) Subverting America” and “U.S. Businesses Surrendering to China (CCP).
Trump: It’s Time to break the monopoly of big tech companies
Trump also referred to censorship of speech by big tech companies, saying, “It’s time to break the monopoly of big tech companies and restore fair competition.” “Republicans, conservatives, must open up our platforms and repeal Section 230 (liability protections for big tech companies).”
He also called for “significant” antitrust sanctions against social media companies that are biased against conservatives and violate constitutional protections for free speech.
Trump also said states could impose sanctions on big tech companies if the federal government refuses to act.
He praised Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Texas Republican leaders for fighting Big Tech’s censorship.
“We don’t have time to waste.” Trump said.
