But a parent of a student told Radio Free Asia that such “indiscriminate” Party Education in all provinces is tantamount to slavery education, and that he would give his children another set of anti-brainwashing education at Home.
Elementary school across China began their school year on Feb. 22, with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party as the focus of their propaganda. The official website of China’s Ministry of Education introduced the “Red First Class of the School Year”, promoting Wujiang Primary School in Guizhou Province, where the first class of the school year was held at the Red Army Breaking Through Wujiang Memorial Park, with the theme “Enter the Red Classroom, Pass on the Red Gene”. The students laid flower baskets at the Red Army statue and listened to the story of the Red Army’s breakthrough of the Wujiang River.
Jinhua Daily also reported that the local opening ceremony was themed on the centenary of the founding of the Party, being the Party’s red child and the spirit of the three cows.
Elementary school in Beijing opened on the first day of school. The Xinjing Daily reported that more than 30,000 teachers and students in Beijing’s Mentougou District, with 1,200 classes, attended the opening lesson on the theme of “learning the history of the Party, understanding ideas, doing practical work, and starting a new situation,” and all primary and secondary school and kindergarten students watched the live broadcast simultaneously. In Jiangsu province, some elementary school started to learn the history of the Party during the winter holidays, and in Anhui province, some elementary school held the opening ceremony of “inheriting the red gene and welcoming the centenary of the founding of the Party”.
