Trump CPAC hints at a presidential run in 2024

On Sunday (Feb. 28), former U.S. President Donald Trump gave his first major speech since leaving office at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida, outlining a path forward for the Republican Party and conservatives. He also hinted at the possibility of running for president in 2024 in his speech, which drew loud applause from the audience.

In his speech, Trump slammed multiple policies of the Biden administration, including the crisis that Biden’s illegal immigration policies have brought to the U.S. border region.

“As we gather this week, we are in the midst of a historic fight, a fight for America’s future, America’s Culture, America’s institutions, America’s borders and most precious principles.” Trump said.

“Our security, our prosperity, and our identity as Americans are at stake like never before.” Trump said.

Trump did not formally announce in his speech that he will run for president in 2024, but he hinted at a possible run in 2024. Trump said he believes he actually won the election in the 2020 presidential election.

“Who knows – I might even decide to beat them a third Time.” Trump said. A loud round of applause erupted from the audience in the room.

Trump said the conservative movement he has created is “far from over.

“There’s never been a more successful journey.” Trump added that conservatives “will triumph, stronger and greater than ever before.”

Trump also denounced Biden’s policies as “American back-pedaling” policies. He said Biden had changed from “America first” to “America second” in just one month.

Trump said he would not start a whole new political party. “We have the Republican Party, and that party is going to come together and be stronger than ever before. I’m not going to start a new party, that’s fake news.”

“The future of the Republican Party is as a party that defends the social, economic and cultural interests and values of working American families, regardless of their race, color and religious creed. Republicans believe that the needs of everyday citizens must come first.” Trump said.

Republicans will be a bastion of opposition to socialism, communism and the policies of the Biden Administration over the next four years. Trump said he will continue to support the Republican Party in its battles.

Former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said in an interview Sunday with Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo that he is confident that Trump will run for president in 2024.

“Whether he announces today (Feb. 28) or not, he’s going to run in 2024.” Navarro said.

Navarro said Trump seeks “fair trade, secure borders, strong national defense, law and order.”
