In the movie “The Evil One”, there is a martyr girl, Guan Qiaohong, who hides in a sewing workshop. She married to avenge her father’s death, but when her husband did not support her revenge, she left him and took her young son on the road to revenge.

The real-Life prototype of Guan Qiaohong is the famous female assassin of the Republic of China, Shi Jianchiao, and the enemy of her father mentioned in the movie is Sun Chuanfang, the leader of the direct warlord system. The story of Guan Qiaohong ends in an ambiguous way in “The Evil One”, while in the real history, the fierce character of Shi Jian Qiao took revenge for 10 years and finally killed her enemy Sun Chuanfang with her own hands.

In 1925, when Shi Jian Qiao was 20 years old, Sun Chuanfang went north and exchanged fire with the Feng warlord Zhang Zongchang, who was entrenched in Shandong. Shi Jianchiao’s father, Shi Congbin, was the commander of the Second Army of the Feng Dynasty and the commander-in-chief of the former enemy. He was captured by Sun Chuanfang, beheaded and displayed to the public, and his body was exposed in the city tower.

When the sad news came, Shi Jian Qiao, in her grief and anger, vowed to pay for her debt in blood. However, her road to revenge was fraught with hardships. Initially, Shi looked to her cousin for help, but he changed his attitude after assuming the post of Yantai police commander and advised her to give up the idea of revenge before it was too late.

Shi then decided to seek revenge with her husband. She married Shi Jing Gong, a spy unit chief under Yan Xishan in Shanxi. This Time, Shi Jianchiao’s wish was again unfulfilled. After her husband was promoted to brigadier general, he also chose to stay clear and did not dare to touch a finger of the great warlord Sun Chuanfang. Shi Jianchiao was so disappointed that she resolutely broke with her husband and took her two sons with her and left without a word.

Ten years after her father’s murder, the 30-year-old Shi Jianxiao still did not forget to take revenge. Just like in the movie, she had her small feet enlarged through surgery and diligently learned the martial arts of swords and spears. One day in November 1935, when Sun Chuanfang was kneeling and chanting at a Buddhist temple, Shi Jianchiao blended into the crowd wearing a moon white coat with a Browning pistol hidden under her lapel. Suddenly, gunshots rang out over the Buddhist temple, and Shi Jianchao raised his pistol and three bullets hit Sun Chuanfang in the back of his head, temple and waist, killing him instantly.

The Buddha Hall was in chaos, but instead of running away, Shi Jianchiao, who had been avenged, scattered leaflets to the crowd, shouting his name and identifying himself. The leaflet was to the effect that today’s assassination was for revenge, and now that his revenge has been avenged, he will surrender himself. At the end, Shi Jianchiao also apologized to the people around him who were disturbed and chivalrous.

Shi Jianchiao dialed the police station and surrendered himself. The case became a national sensation. Sitting in the interrogation room, she was calm and composed. She said, “If my father dies in battle, I cannot take Sun Chuanfang as an enemy. It is only when he brutally kills prisoners and hangs his head after death that I am not in common with him.” Later Shi Jianxiao was imprisoned, a reporter came to interview, she took a look at the four walls of the cell, “It is quite quiet here, on the contrary, I think it is hot outside. Being in prison, it’s a summer break.”

A year after the assassination, Shi Jianqiao’s story took a turn for the worse. Her actions were supported by celebrities from all walks of life, and Feng Yuxiang, Yu Youren and others petitioned the National Government for a pardon.

In 1936, Shi Jianchiao was pardoned and returned to her usual life, spending the rest of her life in a Buddhist temple. In the years that followed, she was given the title of “chivalrous woman” and “martyr woman” and became the heroine of various stories.
