According to a report by mainland media outlet Observer, the “Outline of the National Comprehensive Three-Dimensional Transportation Network Plan” issued by the Communist Party of China State Council on Feb. 24 plans a “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao” transportation spine layout, and Taipei City even appears in the plan.
The Taipei branch line, which is identified as the route from Fuyang to Taipei via Huangshan and Fuzhou, is planned for the period 2021-2035.
The headline of the report even declared, “We are professionals when it comes to infrastructure; we are also serious when it comes to building roads to Taiwan,” and claimed that the relevant planning has been going on for more than a decade.
After the news broke, public opinion generally considered that the purpose behind the CCP’s move was “not pure”, and netizens sarcastically said, “I’m not surprised if they plan to build an elevator to the moon”, “I often fantasize that I have a railroad to Japan and the Philippines. The netizens have sarcastically said, “I’m not surprised that the elevator will be built to the moon”, “I often fantasize that I will have a railway to Japan and the Philippines”, “It’s just a big internal declaration”.
Sanli News reports that this is not the first Time that Beijing authorities have made similar “Taiwan plans”, as the past “369 Strait Railway Network”, “Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan (2008 Adjustment)” and “12th Five-Year Plan Outline” have also included Taipei City in the so-called “China Transportation Plan The “hub” of the city has been included in the so-called “China Transportation Plan”, but in the end, all of them could not be realized.
DPP legislator Wang Dingyu said in an interview with the Free Times today that the extension of the Chinese Communist Party‘s fantasy road network to Taiwan is not really news, as the authorities proposed in 2010 to connect the viaduct or submarine tunnel to Taiwan, and in 2011 when Chen Guangbiao came to Taiwan to show off his wealth, he also boasted that the Chinese Communist Party high-speed rail to Taiwan.
Wang Dingyu pointed out that Taiwan’s transportation road network is very convenient, and the CCP has arrested many officials for railroad corruption alone over the years, “The CCP should mind its own business first, and not wait for the opportunity to eat the tofu of neighboring countries indiscriminately every day.”
He called on the Chinese Communist Party not to be a frog at the bottom of the well, “if the road or railroad extension to where, even if the same one country, then the European transport road network all the way from Britain and France to Turkey, is it also the same country?”
