Lantern Festival no peace: Jiangsu Province, Rudong County, a forced demolition of civilian houses

The Chinese traditional Lantern Festival is supposed to be a day for Family celebrations and reunions, and the relevant Chinese laws and regulations also stipulate that people’s houses should not be demolished on holidays. But in order to compete with the people for profits, officials simply do not take these regulations into account.

According to the overseas rights network on Feb. 27, at 3 a.m. on the Lantern Festival, a group of unidentified people forcibly demolished a 700-square-meter house in Beichang Village, Dugang Township, Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, while people were asleep, and the scene was a mess.

The house was originally a supply and marketing agency, sold to five employees due to the restructuring of the unit, they are Gao Zhizhong, Liu Qingpei, Luo Xiuwen, Zhou Xuan and Wang Juan.

On February 27, the victim of the demolition, Wang Juan, and others reported to 110, and the police arrived at the scene without issuing an acceptance slip and left.

In Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, there have been several cases of forced demolitions that have led to administrative lawsuits, and because the courts have not disposed of the heads of administrative organs who have violated the law by forced demolitions as stipulated in Article 66 of the Administrative Procedure Law, the violators have been emboldened and the forced demolitions continue, and they do not stop even on the Lantern Festival.
