According to a poll released Sunday (Feb. 28) by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), 95 percent of Republicans believe that Trump’s approach to governing needs to be advanced as a top agenda, and 68 percent of Republicans want to see Trump continue his campaign in 2024.

The CPAC poll also showed that 97 percent of Republicans declared their approval of Trump’s performance in office, and 86 percent declared their strong approval.

Fifty-five percent of those in attendance picked Trump as a potential Republican presidential candidate in 2024, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis coming in second at 21 percent.

The results of the vote were announced on Sunday afternoon before Trump’s speech, which he released for the first Time since leaving the White House that day.

The New York Times emphasized that the CPAC poll has not yet proven to be a predictor of future nominees. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who won three such polls in a row before the 2016 U.S. primary, left after the Iowa pre-election meeting. Sen. Mitt Romney (R) of Utah, a fierce critic of Trump, won the vote in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012 but is now being booed by Trump supporters.

Mike Pence, Trump’s former vice president, did not attend the meeting and did not do well in the CPAC vote, which picked him as the potential Republican presidential nominee in 2024 by only 1 percent of the vote.
