Trump is forming a new PAC with a longtime adviser or as chairman

Former President Trump is forming a new political action committee (PAC) and is considering putting his longtime political adviser and aide Corey Lewandowski at the head of the new super PAC, Fox News reported, with multiple sources familiar with the matter confirming.

Last weekend, Trump held a meeting with his political team at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, the paper said. The group included 2020 campaign managers Bill Stepien and Brad Parscale, senior adviser Jason Miller, former White House social media director Dan Scavino, and Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. (Donald Trump Jr.)

The decision to create a new PAC was made at the meeting, but sources familiar with the meeting said plans for a new PAC have not been finalized.

“We expect to formally announce the entire team in the next few weeks, which will include some very talented people who have not yet been named,” Miller said. Miller said, “MAGA (‘Make America Great Again’) supporters and candidates who support President Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda will be impressed with the political activity taking place there (in the new PAC). “

Trump has recently vowed to continue to lead the way for the Republican Party moving forward, and has pledged to support some of the leading candidates to challenge the Republicans who will run in the 2022 re-election. Those Republicans have opposed him in the past or did not support his efforts to reverse last year’s election results.

The latest polls show that the former president remains popular and influential with Republican voters. He also has great influence over most Republicans in Congress.

Immediately after the election last November, Trump set up a leadership PAC called Save America, raising tens of millions of dollars.

A leadership PAC is different from a super PAC. The former has limits on the amount of cash that can be raised; the latter is allowed to raise and spend an unlimited amount of money.

From the Time Trump first announced his presidential bid in 2015, Lewandowski served as his 2016 presidential campaign manager until he stepped down in the 2016 Republican presidential primary. But he remains in close contact with Trump as an outside adviser. In the Trump 2020 campaign, Lewandowski is again serving as a senior adviser.

Lewandowski has recently formed his own new PAC, Fight Back America, to support Republican candidates. These candidates are mounting a major challenge to the congressional Republicans who voted to impeach Trump last month.

Another possible chair of Trump’s new PAC is Linda McMahon. The former professional wrestling mogul served as director of the Small Business Administration for the first two years of Trump’s presidency. During the 2020 election cycle, she served as chair of the pro-Trump super PAC, America First Action.
