Beijing authorities recently announced that “the battle against poverty has been fully won”, which has been accused of being self-directed and self-indulgent. Xi Jinping was stuck for three seconds while reading from a script at a meeting on poverty eradication, and then read out the puzzling word “pepper”, causing concern among netizens.

On Thursday (Feb. 25), Xi spoke at the “national summing-up and commendation conference on poverty eradication” held at the Great Hall in Beijing. He said that he would not engage in fancy fists and embroidery, not engage in red tape, not superficial articles, and firmly opposed to the big but ……”.

Some netizens speculate that he may not recognize these words for a while before getting stuck. And because the meaning of “pepper noodles” is unclear, and even some people think that he read into the wrong word. Some netizens teased, “I sneezed five times after listening to it”. There are also netizens who say, “The draft is not so bad to read in advance”.

The company’s main business is to promote the development of the company’s products and services. He used the term as a metaphor for the way local officials only allocate a small amount of money and resources for poverty alleviation, scattering them aimlessly to poor areas and doing a perfunctory job.

Xi Jinping often uses local colloquialisms in his speeches, which are sometimes rather out of the ordinary and puzzling.

At a so-called “national Epidemic commendation conference” in September last year, Xi suddenly uttered the phrase “all the people of China are cheering for hot dry noodles”, causing officials on stage to remain silent for a few seconds. Mainland netizens were also baffled and flirted with the idea.
