The number of initial jobless claims fell sharply last week, a better-than-expected decrease, showing that with the decline in the number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia (Chinese communist virus) and the acceleration of the application of the vaccine, U.S. companies have begun to reduce layoffs.
The U.S. Department of Labor said on the 25th, in the week ended 20, the number of U.S. initial jobless claims was 730,000, much lower than Bloomberg forecast of 825,000, but also 111,000 less than the previous week.
And in the week ending on the 13th, the number of consecutive jobless claims fell to 4.42 million, down 101,000 from the previous week.
Bloomberg reports that while these figures are still higher than those seen during the worst of the 2008 financial crisis, they show that layoffs caused by the Epidemic may have begun to slow. As more people in the U.S. get vaccinated, employment is expected to improve significantly.
