U.S. media outlet Breitbart News reported Wednesday (Feb. 24) that the head of the Border Patrol coalition said the Biden administration is holding unaccompanied migrant children in Border Patrol longer than the law allows, yet the mainstream media continues to be silent. Recall that during the Trump administration, the mainstream media and Democratic politicians were vociferous in their criticism of keeping minors in “cages.
Brandon Judd, chairman of the National Border Patrol Council, told the Breitbart News of Texas that as of Monday, Border Patrol officials had detained more than 800 unaccompanied alien children (UAC). More than 212 children are being held longer than the legal Time limit, despite the law requiring that the children be released to other federal agencies within 72 hours.
Judd told a reporter for Breitbart News, “White House press secretary Psaki said the Biden Administration could not hold the children in other locations because of the social distance of the CCP’s viral rules. But what she didn’t tell the media is that the children being held in Border Patrol are barely able to maintain social distance from each other.”
Psaki made the remarks during a press conference Tuesday in response to a question from a Fox News White House reporter. See the video below, which was tweeted by Forbes.
According to Judd, “The hypocrisy of the left and the mainstream media truly shows that the left is using kids as pawns to attack President Trump, and they don’t care about the kids themselves.”
The Border Patrol industry leader explained, “Psaki said ‘Customs and Border Control’ (not Customs and Border Protection) will continue to take unaccompanied children and transfer them to the U.S. Department of health‘s (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Psaki added that the Office of Refugee Resettlement only has the capacity to accommodate a certain number of children because of the Epidemic and social distance.”
“What she failed to explain is that the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement simply does not have the capacity to accept these children, who are now being held in much worse conditions than the HHS facility,” Judd continued, “In fact, the children are currently being held in the same place that the main media and the Democratic Party accused the Trump Administration of keeping ‘children in cages’ at the time.”
