American golf player Tiger Woods was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles County on the 23rd. According to local police, Tiger Woods’ RV crashed into a divider, flipped several times, and ended up on a suburban hillside outside of the road, where firefighters and medics rescued him from the front windshield. Tiger Woods has no Life-threatening injuries but has a broken leg and is currently undergoing leg surgery.
The local police said Tiger Woods was the only one in the car when the accident occurred, the crash did not involve other vehicles, firefighters pried open the front windshield to rescue Tiger Woods when he was conscious and able to communicate.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Villanueva (Alex Villanueva) said that the car’s airbags were successfully activated and the interior of the car was largely intact, becoming a cushion for Tiger Woods to survive the crash; Fire Chief Daryl Osby noted that Tiger Woods had serious injuries to both legs.
Authorities noted that they had looked inside the car to see if there was an odor of alcohol or other signs that Tiger Woods was under the influence of other substances, but found no signs. Authorities did not indicate how fast the car was going.
Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff Carlos Gonzalez was the first person to arrive on the scene. He said the roadway is a hot spot for traffic accidents and speeding, and “I would say Tiger Woods was very lucky to survive this crash.”
Gonzalez said he continued to speak to Tiger Woods himself to try to keep him calm before police and firefighters rescued him. “When I arrived at the scene of the accident, Tiger Woods was in the driver’s seat and he was able to talk to me and seemed calm and sober. He said his name was Tiger and right away I recognized him immediately.”
Gonzalez noted that Tiger Woods was saved by his modern car, “the interior passenger area of the car was intact and the airbags were successfully activated. I think it’s a miracle of modern engineering”.
Tiger Woods’ crash also brought the luxury car he was driving into the spotlight instantly.
