Biden reopens illegal immigration facility that was criticized for use by the Trump administration and was also used when it was built under the Obama administration

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, left, are seen through a fence as they watch illegal immigrants walk toward a Border Patrol vehicle as they are detained after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border barrier in El Paso, Texas, U.S., June 27, 2019. The area is where asylum seekers often voluntarily turn themselves in after crossing the border.

The Joe Biden administration has reopened a facility that holds unaccompanied child illegal immigrants. The facility was used during the Trump administration. Biden has strongly condemned Trump’s use of these facilities in recent years.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters at the White House on Tuesday (Feb. 23) that the facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, has been reopened “to increase capacity and to allow these children to receive, until they are safely placed with their families and sponsors the care they need to make them safe.”

She called it a “temporary reopening” for the duration of the communist virus outbreak. The Biden Administration intends to close it eventually, she said.

The U.S. Department of health and Human Services issued a press release on Feb. 22 announcing the reopening of the facility.

In an update, the agency said updated security measures made it necessary to restart the temporary facility used to house and care for unaccompanied children during the outbreak.

On Monday (Feb. 22), a number of minors began arriving at the facility for the first Time since 2019.

It was revealed that the facility will house about 700 children and adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 who will complete the quarantine needed to test for the COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus) outbreak. As of Feb. 18, the facility had cared for 6,800 unaccompanied children. The average length of care was 42 days.

In 2019, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris (Chinese name: He Jinli) both denounced the Trump Administration for keeping minors in what they call “cages” – a type of detention area that is actually a form of detention for the Obama administration, a reporter told Psaki. Such holding areas were actually built and used by the Obama administration.

One reporter asked, “Joe Biden previously said, ‘Under Trump, there have been appalling scenes at the border where children are being held in cages. Kamala Harris also criticized that basically, putting babies in cages is a human rights violation by the U.S. government. So what’s the difference (in what you’re doing)?”

Psaki replied, “That’s really how we see it.”

She said, “Let me get this straight. First, the Epidemic is spreading. I’m sure you’re not suggesting that we live in an unsafe way with children next to each other, are you?” She also claimed that “this is not about putting children in cages. This is despite the fact that the facility was open for use under the previous president and was heavily criticized by both Biden and Hejinli.

She said, “This is an open facility that will be held to the same standards as other Department of Health and Human Services facilities. This is not a replication. It certainly is not. We never intended to replicate the immigration policies of the previous administration.” She continued, “But we are in a situation where we are not going to deport unaccompanied minors who are at the border. That’s inhumane. As a government, that’s not what we’re going to do. We need to find safe places for the children that meet the COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus) immunization standards so that they can access educational, health and psychological services that are in their best interest. Our goal is to refer them to their families or sponsors.”

In response, lawmakers, including Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, were quick to react.

Rubio said, “Does anyone want to post odds that the media will report for weeks on end on how Biden keeps his kids in cages?” By that, he meant how the media had heavily criticized the Trump administration’s immigration policies, repeatedly claiming that Trump was putting children in cages, but saying nothing about the same practices of the Biden administration.

Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, added to this: “(Although it’s the same facility) but they’re no longer ‘children in cages’ now? They are then already children in an ‘immigration facility’?”

Earlier this month, Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, blamed the Biden administration’s orders and promises for a spike in the number of refugees arriving at the southern border.

In a tweet, he wrote, “Unfortunately, more unaccompanied children are being detained by human traffickers and facing horrific abuse because of (Biden’s illegal immigration) Amnesty promises.”
