The National Archives reports that a second Missouri county has become a Second Amendment sanctuary, authorizing county sheriffs to arrest gun-grabbing federal agents.
The move follows similar action in Newton County, where local officials are pushing back against attempts by rabid Democrats to confiscate guns.
Another Missouri county commission has signed legislation that would turn their county into a Second Amendment sanctuary from any unconstitutional gun control directives passed by the Biden administration, Merrick Garland’s Justice Department or other federal parties.
Mercer County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that Mercer County Sheriff Jose Lopez and the Mercer County Commission have signed an order that will authorize county sheriffs to arrest all federal agents who attempt to enforce anti-Second Amendment orders in Mercer County.
“This morning (Feb. 22, 2021), Sheriff Lopez and Mercer County Commissioners Jerry Allen, Shane Grooms and Zachary Martin signed the Mercer County, Missouri Second Amendment Protection Act. This is a step in the right direction to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens in Mercer County,” the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The Second Amendment Protection Act enacted in Mercer County is nearly identical to an order passed earlier this month in Newton County, Missouri.
“The Newton County Second Amendment Protection Act will nullify any illegal federal gun restrictions that may have been passed by the Joe Biden Administration.
It declares that “all federal acts, laws, orders, rules and regulations, whether past, present or future, adopted by the federal government, and in particular by any presidential administration, which violate the right of the people to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment …… shall not be recognized by the County and are expressly rejected by the County and shall be deemed null and void and of no force and effect in the County.”
The legislation also provides that “any and all federal agents attempting to enforce the provisions listed in subsection (1) shall be subject to arrest by the Sheriff’s Department of Newton County, Missouri” and that “the Sheriff’s Department of Newton County, Missouri, shall be granted full authority to arrest any and all federal agents who violate state law and enforce the provisions listed in subsection (1).”
Biden’s Attorney General nominee, Merrick Garland, has a history of trying to restrict citizens’ Second Amendment rights.
