Pompeo: Biden must oppose “Xi Jinping’s desire for hegemony”

In a media interview, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reiterated his call for the Biden administration to strengthen its tough stance against the Chinese Communist Party, urging that Biden must oppose China’s “Xi Jinping‘s desire for hegemony.

Pompeo also reiterated his disappointment with Biden’s comments on CNN.

During a Feb. 16 appearance on a CNN-sponsored town hall television program, Biden said he spoke about human rights during a two-hour call with Xi last week. He said he and Xi mentioned China’s actions in Hong Kong and Xinjiang, as well as the Taiwan issue. But Biden followed up by saying, “Culturally, every country has different norms that they expect their leaders to abide by.”

On Feb. 20, Pompeo told Newsmax TV’s “Saturday Agenda” that “using different norms or different behavior as an excuse to pass the buck is what the Chinese Communist Party is talking about.” “That’s the way they talk about it. They just say, ‘Look, we have a different Culture, we’re a little different.'”

“This has nothing to do with different cultures or norms. It has to do with gross human rights violations.” Pompeo said.

The former secretary of state noted that current Secretary of State Antony Blinken has agreed with the Trump administration to classify what the Chinese Communist Party has done to the Uighurs as “genocide,” so President Biden must accept that designation.

Pompeo said it was frustrating to hear such comments from the U.S. president and not follow the attitude that the matter must be taken seriously. “I hope the (current) administration will take this as seriously as the last (administration) did.” He said.

He also acknowledged that Biden’s comments could simply be a mistake early in his presidency.

Speaking about the Biden Administration sending a different message, Pompeo said the questions he has given the Biden administration these past few weeks have actually benefited the Biden administration and that every administration needs some Time to correct itself.

Pompeo said Biden must oppose China’s “Xi Jinping’s desire for hegemony.

He concluded, “We will soon know, because the American people will demand that the Chinese Communist Party stop abusing the United States of America.”

Florida U.S. Sen. Rick Scott (R) tweeted Monday that the Chinese Communist Party has not stopped and is now threatening retaliation against countries that embrace human rights and love freedom. Communist China will not allow Beijing to host the 2022 Winter Olympics as long as it denies the rights of Hong Kong people and Uighurs.

Florida Republican Congressman Carlos Gimenez also wrote an article in The Hill, offering advice and warnings to Biden about the Chinese Communist threat.

Gimenez began by citing his own experience as Miami-Dade County Commissioner to illustrate that the Chinese Communist Party cannot be trusted. He wrote, “I had the opportunity to see firsthand the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to take control of our critical infrastructure and assets. This experience led me to give President Biden a piece of advice: Please do not pay attention to the Chinese Communist Party leaders. Those snubs are meant to lead us to soften our stance on the CCP, and President Biden should work to strengthen a tough foreign policy toward China, including in all non-military areas.”

He said that beyond those propaganda carried out by the CCP, it must not be forgotten that the CCP remains the most dangerous enemy the United States faces in the geopolitical and economic spheres. The Chinese Communist Party will treat the new Biden administration in a conciliatory tone and will push the United States to abandon its current toughest diplomatic strategy toward China.

“The Chinese Communist Party wants the United States to recognize a new global economic system that favors the strategic goals of the Chinese Communist Party, but one that is built at the expense of the United States and its key partners and allies. Most importantly, the CCP wants us to believe their lie that China (the CCP) is a good and reliable partner in the world and that it is actually a good thing that the CCP has a leadership position internationally.” He said.
