Wang Yi and Biden want three conditions Yu Maochun: the thief cried out to catch the thief

On Feb. 22, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on the Biden administration to reverse Trump‘s policy, demanding that the U.S. drop tariffs, lift sanctions on Chinese companies, and release Chinese technology companies. In response, Yu Maochun, a former China Policy staffer of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, said that it is obvious that the Chinese Communist Party is against the world, but now it is putting the blame on the Trump Administration, which is really “a thief crying out for a thief.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the so-called “Dialogue and Cooperation, Managing Differences – Promoting China-U.S. Relations Back on Track” organized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi said that China-U.S. relations should “set things right” and offered Biden’s so-called “Three Keys” to the Chinese government. Biden proposed the so-called “three renunciations”, namely “abandoning the tariffs imposed on Chinese products, abandoning various unilateral sanctions against Chinese enterprises and research institutions, and abandoning the suppression of China’s scientific and technological progress”.

Wang also took the initiative to “cut” the U.S. government, saying that the current impasse between China and the U.S. was created by the Trump administration, and repeated the so-called “mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs” principles mentioned by Xi Jinping during his call with Biden.

Yu Maochun comments on Wang Yi’s speech: A thief cries out for a thief

In an interview with Radio Free Asia, Yu Maochun, former chief China policy and planning adviser at the U.S. State Department and now a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, said, “Wang Yi said this without any bottom line, without any logic. The problem that China (CCP) is facing now is not just that the United States is not getting along with China (CCP), it’s that China (CCP) is not getting along with the whole world, so China (CCP) doesn’t have many friends in the world now.”

“It’s not just that the U.S. is not good with it (CCP), even its diplomacy with Europe, its diplomacy with neighboring countries, basically there is not a single sincere friend. So it puts this on the head of the United States, this is a thief crying out for a thief, so that it is not fundamentally justified.”

Yu Maochun also believes that the Chinese Communist Party’s old tune of “mutual respect” and “win-win” is out of date. It is impossible for the U.S. government to go back to the old ways, especially in its policy toward China.

The Chinese Communist Party has no bottom line in suppressing people, but it is weak in its heart

The Chinese ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, also said at the same seminar that the Chinese Communist Party “must adhere to the red line” on issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet.

Yu Maochun responded, “It’s not a question of bottom line or not, the Chinese government has no bottom line on Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Taiwan, it has no scruples. So I think China (CCP) said this bottom line, superficially very rousing, but in fact is very vain in the heart.”

Yu Maochun added: “The massive theft of U.S. trade secrets, preventing countries around the world suffering from the Epidemic and the international community from investigating the source of the epidemic, even suppressing progressive and pro-democracy activists outside of China, all of these are not China’s (CCP) internal affairs, all of these are not China’s own affairs.”

“So that the Chinese (CCP) government wants others to respect, it first has to respect the basic international laws, and there are many things that the Chinese (CCP) government is doing in neighboring countries, all over the world, that do not fit with the basic international standards, and China (CCP) is now saying good things and doing very bad things.”

Taiwan’s Land Commission calls on Wang Yi to face reality

In response to Wang Yi and Cui Tiankai’s call for the United States to “stop condoning the secessionist forces of Taiwan independence,” Taiwan’s Land Commission said the Republic of China has the right to have friendly relations with countries around the world and called on the Chinese Communist Party to face up to the cross-strait reality.

The Central News Agency (CNA) reported that the Taiwan Land Commission said in a written response to an inquiry in the evening that it had noticed that the Chinese Communist Party had repeatedly mentioned its so-called “core interests” when discussing the development of Sino-US relations recently. But Taiwan also wants to emphasize once again that Taiwan “has the right to have friendly relations with other countries around the world.

The Lujiazui Committee said that the government maintains peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and firmly defends its sovereignty and democratic freedoms, which is supported and affirmed by the international community, including the United States; it called on the other side of the Taiwan Strait to assume regional responsibility, face up to the cross-strait reality and Taiwan’s public opinion, and give up military intimidation and diplomatic suppression against Taiwan, which will help the development of positive cross-strait interaction.
